Conversion Engine Mounting Kit for Land Rover Discovery 300 Tdi or Defender 300 Tdi into 4 cylinder Series 2, Series 2A, Series 3 Land Rovers
These brackets are made to bolt to the 300 TDI engine block and will fit a 4 cylinder chassis with no welding required.
The aim of this conversion is to allow the 300 engine to fit using nuts and bolts instead of welding, especially where a galvanised chassis is fitted, however the RH chassis engine mounting bracket will need cutting back. A template is supplied to do this.
THIS KIT IS TO MOUNT THE 300 TDI ENGINE INTO THE ENGINE BAY IN LAND ROVER SERIES 2, SERIES 2A & SERIES 3, 4 CYLINDER MODELS WITH A STANDARD SERIES GEARBOX
conversion Kit Consists Of
- RH Chassis Mounting Bracket / Cap & Template,
- RH Engine Bracket, (bolts to engine) (reuse 2¼ engine bracket for LHS)
- Sump Bracket to secure above engine bracket (locates in sump channel)
- Turbo Bracket (Boost Control Unit), turbo outlet needs rotating, Manifold Gasket etc
- Alternator Bracket (Alternator is Relocated) and Drive Belt (inform us if PAS is being fitted so we can supply a longer belt)
- Special fixing bolts required for the various brackets.
- Fitting instructions
The 300 TDI flywheel housing will fit the Series model 2¼ litre petrol or diesel bellhousing with no modifications to the bell housing. However the 300TDI flywheel housing will need some alterations to suit the adaption to mate up to the Series bellhousing. This involves drilling out and tapping one hole to take a bell housing stud.
The original Left Hand 2¼ litre petrol or diesel engine block mounting bracket must be used with this conversion, so please retain this from the old 4 cylinder engine you have removed.
This conversion cannot be carried out with EDC engines that were fitted in to the Discovery automatic gearbox models from 1996 onwards.

This conversion is designed for the original Land Rover chassis. If a replacement chassis has been fitted there may be some differences in crossmembers and brackets etc., causing fitting issues with some parts which is beyond our control
