THIS IS DESIGNED TO BE USED IN CONJUCTION WITH OUR POWER STEERING CONVERSION KIT SPCK339PASK3 FOR VEHICLES WITH STANDARD ENGINES OR AN ENGINE CONVERSION WITH NO POWER STEERING PUMP FITTED TO THE ENGINE.
This kit is to fit an electric power steering pump from the BMW Mini R50, R52, R53 (2001-2008). It is designed to be used in conjunction with the power steering kit we make for fitting the P38 Range Rover power steering box. When fitted to the Range Rover P38 the ZF power steering box had an excellent reputation for reliability. Therefore the system needs an hydraulic pump to power the system. If the Series Land Rover still has it’s standard engine, this electric pump system allows power steering to be fitted without affecting the engine. If the Land Rover has been fitted with a different engine but doesn’t have a power steering pump, this system can also be used.
As this Hydraulic pump is electrically powered, we have designed the kit to be independent of the engine fitted to your Land Rover. The kit has been designed to be fitted to several models and ages of Land Rover and be suitable for Right Hand Drive models so the kit must be universal in some respects. The electric pump is located in front of the radiator which will allow it to keep cool and make it easily accessible. We have located the fluid reservoir behind the front panel so the PAS fluid does not get to cold a this will affect the PAS performance. The hoses and wiring has been specially made for the conversion. The wiring is supplied with plenty of length as the battery tray on Right Hand drive models will need moving under the seat or a suitable location as the Range Rover P38 steering box will not fit with the Series battery box in it’s standard location.
As this system can draw up to 60 amps, the dynamo will not be able to produce enough power so an alternator will need fitting. If your vehicle is Positive earth the polarity will need changing to Negative earth.
Series 3 models have alternators fitted as standard, this may need upgrading to a larger output alternator if required.
This kit comprises of: —
Mounting bracket (Pump to chassis) with 4 x M6 x20mm flange bolts and nutserts
Mounting bracket for P38 reservoir, with 3 fixing screws, P clips (1 x RHD or 2 x LHD) nutsert & M6 x 20 flange bolt
Reservoir to Pump – Hydraulic Stainless-Steel Pipe & 2 x 5/8” Rubber Pipe, incl. Hose clips
Pump to Steering box – Hydraulic pipe with Fixing Clamp and Banjo Bolt / sealing washers
Steering Box to Reservoir – Hydraulic Return pipe -, incl. hose clips & Banjo Bolt / sealing washers
Harness switching to connect to Ignition
Harness Power cable (Extension Cable in red) to connect to battery under seat etc. and 80amp fuses and holder.

Power steering pump from a BMW Mini R50, R52, R53 produced between 2001 and 2008. We can supply an exchange recon unit if required.
Pump Mounting bracket with the 4 mounting rubbers, from a BMW mini produced between 2001 and 2008
Main power Harness, from a BMW mini produced between 2001 and 2008) If you are unable to locate the original main power cable, we can also supply a new one at extra cost.
